Lyon Township, Mich. — A bomb-sniffing dog who did nine tours in Afghanistan is to be laid to rest at the Michigan War Dogs Memorial in Oakland County.
A funeral service for Mina is to be held Sunday in Lyon Township. He died recently at age 13.
WHMI-FM reports Mina’s service is to include a flag line and taps. But in lieu of a 21-gun salute, a chorus of trained dogs is to howl on command.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony.
The Michigan War Dogs Memorial is run by a nonprofit dedicated to educating the public on the role dogs have played in the U.S. military.
